Introduction to Online Learning

Congratulations!  You have enrolled in the online RN-BSN!  This page provides you with essential information for getting started in this program.  Please read through the following instructions on how to access your courses in our online classroom system, Blackboard.

Blackboard

You will be 'attending' class online. We will be using the Blackboard (Bb) content management system (CMS) for all of the RN-BSN courses.  In order to access the Blackboard program, you will need a computer with an Internet connection.  There are two ways to access Bb:

• Go directly to Bb at http://mcon.blackboard.com/
• Go to the MCON website at http://www.mcon.edu, click on Links > Course Access for Blackboard. You will also find the link to Blackboard in the Current Students section.
  
  When you reach the Blackboard home page, click on the Login button. Type in your username and password in the proper fields and click Login. If you have not received your username and password, please contact the Blackboard Administrators, either Leslie Wenzel, lrwenzel@mcon.edu - 309-672-5960, or Dr. Eli Collins-Brown, ecollins-brown@mcon.edu - 309-672-5533.
  

You will be taken to the Welcome Center of Blackboard. The courses you are currently enrolled in will be listed under the My Courses Section.

Inside the classroom you will find links to the Syllabus, Course Calendar, content modules, and discussions.

Click on the navigation bar on the left side of the screen to move around the course. NOTE: Different courses will have different buttons or links in the navbar.

The first thing you will need to do is to read through the Syllabus completely.  You may read it online or print it.  Also print the Course Organizer. Each course will include a course orientation that must be completed during the first week of the course.
