RN-BSN Curriculum

Thirty (30) semester hours of required general education courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5 must be completed prior to receiving your baccalaureate degree. However, six (6) credit hours of Humanities, three (3) credit hours of Speech, and three (3) credit hours of Business/Economics may be completed during your enrollment in our RN to BSN program. See below for the list of required courses, as well as information on how to obtain credit through CLEP testing.

In addition to your Gen Ed transfer credits, you will be awarded 30 credits for lower division nursing coursework:

At the end of this program you will have completed 34 upper division courses for a total of 122 credit hours.

The transferable general education coursework is identified through the articulation agreement MCON has with the institution, i.e., community college, ADN program or hospital based diploma program. The articulation agreements specify the number of general education credits accepted by MCON and will also be reviewed. The RN to BSN student will be awarded 30 credits for lower division nursing coursework, as follows: Pediatric Nursing – 5 credits; Obstetric Nursing – 5 credits; Psychiatric Nursing – 5 credits; Medical Surgical Nursing Practice – 10 credits; Wholistic Nursing Care – 5 credits.

College Level Examination Proficiency

CLEP (College Level Examination Proficiency) testing is a convenient and quick way to complete many of the general education course requirements. These examinations allow students the flexibility to prepare at their own pace and test for academic credits.
