Have a question?
Browse this page for your answer. If you can't find the answer you are looking for, ask us!
Are all of the classes on-line?
The first course the RN-BSN student will complete is Transition to Baccalaureate Nursing. As a student you will be expected to learn the Blackboard Learning Management System and our expert on Instructional Technology will assist everyone in acquiring any needed computer skills. This instruction will be offered at selected sites for the students' convenience.
Do I have to have a GPA of 2.5 in the general education courses to be admitted into the RN-BSN program?
Yes, the expectations are the same for both generic and practicing RN's. If your GPA is not high enough, speak with the program coordinator for suggestions on how to resolve this problem.
Do all of the general education courses need to be completed before I can start the on-line courses?
No, courses such as the six (6) credit hours of Humanities, three (3) credit hours of Speech, and three (3) credit hours of Business/Economics may be completed while you are taking the RN to BSN courses. But must be completed prior to receiving your BSN
How long do I have to complete the program?
Five years, although if you follow your cohort schedule, you can complete the program in a little over two years.
Do I need to meet the same health and legal requirements as the generic nursing students?
Yes, meeting these requirements protects both the student and any prospective clinical sites that may be used during the completion of the degree.
What if I am a new grad or have not worked as an RN for awhile?
Please meet with the RN-BSN coordinator if you are in doubt about your ability to apply. Experience will assist the student to organize their clinical experiences, but, faculty will assist the student where necessary.
What are the deadlines for admission?
Of course you are encouraged to complete your enrollment as soon as possible. But applications are continually accepted on a rolling basis. New cohorts (or groups) will be started in the program every August and January. Class sequence does change depending on when you begin your cohort.
Please see the Curriculum page for the different sequences.
Are the fees any different for RN-BSN students?
Yes, RN-BSN students will not be required to pay Activity Fees, ATI fees, or LRC fees. Please see the fee schedule on the Tuition & Fees page for further information.
Where can I find all of the admission requirements?
Go to the admissions page. You will be referred to the MCON admissions page for detailed information. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the program coordinator.
