Scholarships

President's List Scholarship

Starting with the Fall 2008 semester, all students with a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or higher will receive a President's List Scholarship for $500 each semester of eligibility.

First Semester Students

Every student who applies for admission to the college is automatically considered for the President's List Scholarship.  Students with a recalculated GPA of 3.5 at the time of provisional admittance will receive the scholarship for their first semester at Methodist College of Nursing.  The maximum award for the scholarship is four semesters, for a total of $2,000 dollars.

Continuing Students

Continuing students must maintain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average in their Methodist College of Nursing coursework to be eligible for the President's List Scholarship.  Cumulative grade point averages will be calculated at the end of each semester, and will be awarded shortly after the end of the semester.

Foundation Scholarships

Methodist College of Nursing has collaborated with our parent hospital, Methodist Medical Center, and the Medical Center Foundation to provide a student with many scholarship opportunities that may assist you in meeting your educational expenses.

Scholarships are generally awarded in the summer for the fall semester, and in the winter for the spring semester. Application deadlines for the scholarship programs are;

Fall Scholarships - April 30

Spring Scholarships - September 30

The college may extend a scholarship deadline if there are no qualified applicants.  In these cases current students will be notified by email and information will be provided in the Stethoscope.  Any incoming students must meet the application deadlines posted above.

A complete listing of institutional scholarships, amounts, biographies and requirements are listed below.  The college does post outside scholarships to the scholarship bulletin board on the lower level across from the elevators.

The college encourages all students to submit the required application, the scholarship essay and two letters of reference  and return them by the deadlines above to David Peterson, Director of Student Services via standard mail or email at dpeterson@mmci.org. You must complete a scholarship application for each semester as applications are not held beyond the semester in which they were submitted.  You only need to apply once each semester to be considered for all available scholarships.

A completed scholarship application packet should include;

  • the completed application form,
  • an essay addressing the points provided on the scholarship application form,
  • two letters of reference from faculty members (current students must use MCON faculty, incoming students should use faculty from their current or previous colleges).
