Assessment at Methodist College of Nursing

The Office of Assessment, Outcomes, Accreditation, and Research (AOAR) administers the program of assessing student learning assessment at Methodist College of Nursing (MCON). Two committees are responsible for learning assessment and evaluation of institutional assessment at MCON:

  • The College Effectiveness Committee is responsible for the overall College effectiveness plan; tying assessment to mission, vision, and the strategic plan; administering the End of Semester survey; and monitoring MCON compliance with various institutional effectiveness requirements. General education objective evaluation is conducted by the faculty each semester through application of a rubric related to prioritized general objectives.

  • The Program Evaluation Committee is responsible for overseeing the evaluation of the baccalaureate nursing program, using the Systematic Plan for Evaluation (SPE) as a framework. The faculty examines SPE variables at an annual evaluation meeting. Issues arising from these meetings are referred to the appropriate faculty committee for development and evaluation of appropriate action plans. Faculty participate in assessment of student learning through program outcome objective evaluation applied every semester using existing student papers and assignments. The Spring, 2007 SPE  was completed on May 15, 2007.

The following is the model for assessment at MCON:
